The Wisconsin Energy Institute and Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center are highlighting a series of talented graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, sharing what brought them to the field of clean energy and what propels their work.
Amongst them is John Crandall, a postdoctoral researcher in the Hittinger Lab. Crandall studies metabolic pathways in lipid-producing yeast that, with the help of biological engineering, may produce sustainable replacements for fossil fuels. Crandall is a yeast enthusiast in and outside the lab, sharing his passion for baking, brewing, and charismatic yeast. He is using his enthusiasm to make an impact.
