New Article Highlights CRISPRtOE Research Tool in the Peters Lab

This past week, the Wisconsin Energy Institute published an article highlighting the research developments and tools used by Genetics professor, Jason Peters, and his research team!

Jason PetersJason Peters is an Associate Professor of Medical Genetics studying the functional genomics of medically, industrially, and environmentally relevant bacteria. The Peters Lab focuses on defining genetic targets in bacteria for therapeutic or engineering purposes, specifically towards making valuable bioproducts. The article discusses the development of a new tool used in Peters’ team, CRISPRtOE. This technology “can be used to easily and selectively boost the activity of selected genes in bacteria,” as well as “reveal gene functions that might not show up in other tests and copy natural ways that organisms respond to disease.” His research team plans to utilize this incredible tool to target all genes in bacterium to better understand their cellular roles in gene expression.
