Genetics award contributes to responsible development of new technologies

Researchers in the Laboratory of Genetics, together with a collaborative interdisciplinary team that includes the Nelson Institute, the UW’s Data Science Institute, and the departments of Forest and Wildlife Ecology, Entomology, Statistics, and Philosophy, as well as the Waisman Center and the UW School of Veterinary Medicine, have been awarded an NSF Responsible Design, Development, and Deployment of Technologies (ReDDDoT) Phase 1 award. This project will develop pipelines for preserving genetic diversity to maintain population health in wild animal species while addressing ethical and sovereignty aspects of implementing these technologies.
