Genetics PhD Student Yadwinder Kaur Receives F31 Grant

The Laboratory of Genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is excited to announce that our Genetics graduate student, Yadwinder Kaur, was recently awarded with an F31 grant! The F31 grant is offered by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to predoctoral students passionate about pursuing research. The grant Yadwinder received was specifically granted by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development within the NIH.

Yadwinder Kaur is a fourth-year Genetics PhD student in Dr. Melissa Harrison’s lab in the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry at UW-Madison. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from UMass Amherst, where she became interested in the interplay between the environment and epigenetics. The cutting-edge genomics research and the collaborative culture of the UW-Madison Genetics program provided the perfect environment for her to pursue these interests. Her graduate work focuses on how chromatin-modifying proteins shape development and how disruptions in their function contribute to diseases such as pediatric brain cancer in the Harrison Lab. Outside of research, her hobbies include traveling, hiking, scrapbooking, and thrifting. As a graduate student, Madison has been a great city for Yadwinder to explore the outdoors and new cities!

Congratulations to Yadwinder for receiving this outstanding grant!
